The Reconstruction came after the Civil War and lasted till 1877. The political, social, and economic circumstances after the Civil War defined the goals of Reconstruction. At this time the Congress was separated politically on issues that grew out of the Civil War: black justice, rebuilding the South, readmitting Southern states to the Union, and deciding who would control government. Newly freed slaves wandered the South after having left their former masters, and the white population was morally devastated, troubled about what laid further on. They also wanted to limit the rights of blacks to move, vote, travel, and change jobs. Republicans wanted to follow a policy of understanding between the North and South, but at the same time make sure slavery was abolished Republicans, comprised of Northern politicians, were strongly opposed to slavery, unsympathetic to the South, wanted to protect newly free slaves. At the end of the Civil War came President Andrew Johnson. His major goal was to unify the nation. The Black Codes and President Johnsons veto of all Reconstruction legislation that was unfavorable to the South caused Moderate and Radical Republicans to change their goals from just ending slavery looking for political fairness and voting rights for blacks. The new goals were based on humanitarian and political considerations. Northerners had grown more and more understanding of the troubles of the blacks in the South following many well-publicized incidents in which innocent blacks were harassed, beaten, and killed. The extension of suffrage to black males was a political move by the Republicans in Congress who believed that blacks would form the stamina of the Republican Party in the South. Few blacks held elective offices in the Souths population. And those in office usually did not exercise the power, which during Reconstruction continued to reside with Moderate and Radical Republicans in Congress emancipated slaves had little to do with either fashioning Reconstruction policy or its implementation. The leaders of the Reconstruction failed to understand that without economic justice blacks would be forced into a dependency on the white power structure to protect their rights and when these rights no longer served the interests of this power structure they were easily stripped away. Reconstruction Acts and Constitutional Amendments offered little protection to stop this stripping away of black political rights. The Reconstruction leaders failed to understand the relationship between political rights and economic power; if they had they might not have discarded measures that could have provided former slaves with the economic power to continue their political rights. The Reconstruction left blacks with no economic support, dependent on others for their social and political power. The Reconstruction, when those political alliances did not serve the needs of the whites in power, blacks was deserted and theyre political and social goals wiped out. Though, the Reconstruction held out great promise and hope to blacks in America, it failed to achieve their large goals and in following decades much of their accomplishments washed away. Yet, it brought major permanent changes. The Reconstruction ended slavery. The failing of the Reconstruction is not as simple as racism, politics, or individual events; to single out one to explain such complex periods gives an unfinished picture of both history and the nature of racism. .

Lets Look At Lest Letââ¬â¢s Look At ââ¬Å"Lestâ⬠Letââ¬â¢s Look At ââ¬Å"Lestâ⬠By Maeve Maddox Recently Iââ¬â¢ve noticed some odd uses of the word lest. Some may be no more than typographical errors, but others appear to result from a misunderstanding of the meaning and function of the conjunction lest. Lest introduces a clause expressive of something to be avoided or guarded against. Here are some examples: In helping my son pack for college, I tucked in a newly framed photo of the family for him to take with him lest he forget what we all looked like. Thereââ¬â¢s a scene in the movie where the master chef - whoââ¬â¢s in his eighties - explains that as a younger man, sushià recipes would come to him in his sleep. And he would jump out of bed to write them down, lest he forget them by morning. Clip back any branches and remove any plants that will be in the way before you begin, lest you tread on them while erecting the fence. Another use of lest following a verb of fearing, or phrases indicating apprehension or danger, is to introduce a clause expressing what is feared. Here are examples of this usage: Im afraidà to open the door and check,à lest sheà be sleeping and I wake her up.à Im afraidà to leave because I amà afraidà of walking past our building managers office,à lest sheà realizeà Imà unemployed. The chief errors Iââ¬â¢ve noticed with lest are these: 1. Following lest with not: INCORRECT: Then Rubio pivoted to Obama, lest not alienate Republicans who like what Trump has to say. (Alex Leary, Tampa Bay Times,) CORRECT : Then Rubio pivoted to Obama, lest he alienate Republicans who like what Trump has to say. Lest is already negative, so it shouldnââ¬â¢t be used with not. Because lest introduces a clause, it should be followed by the subject of the clause that expresses whatever is to be avoided. 2. Introducing a sentence fragment with lest. INCORRECT: Lest he forget that 70% of American Jews voted for Obama and find the politics of the modern GOP repugnant.à (Wayne Besen, Falls Church News-Press) CORRECT : Netanyahu shouldnââ¬â¢t forget that 70% of American Jews voted for Obama and find the politics of the modern GOP repugnant.à Sometimes a sentence fragment is an effective stylistic choice, but not when it is introduced by lest. A clause introduced by lest needs to be attached to a main clause. The fragment ââ¬Å"lest we forgetâ⬠is frequently used in connection with memorial services, but a main clause is implied: ââ¬Å"We build monuments and hold memorial services lest we forget the sacrifices of the departed.â⬠3. Effects on Industrial development The first aspect that robots involved heavily is the industrial development, facilitating great innovations and successfully replacing human help. After the inception of robots during the 1950ââ¬â¢s, the process of using robots as industrial tools was proposed by George Davol and Joseph Engelberger. The first industrial robots manufacturing company named ââ¬Å"Unimateâ⬠was made and in 1959, the first industrial robot prototype was made. After the Unimate concept received great interest from companies in Japan, the General Motor automobile factory installed the first Unimate robot in order to serve the assembly line (Engelberger, 2007). The subsequent acquisition of the technology by the Japanese Kawasaki factory marked the development of the first robotic association J.I.R.A (Japanese Industrial Robot Association) in 1971, setting a new milestone for the industrial robot technology. New emerging technologies were implemented to facilitate better control of robots and accelerate production. The positive and negative impacts in the mechanical and medical fields are discussed below. Mechanical involvement Introducing robots in manufacturing companies had a significant advantage both for the companies and the workers. Robots were able to perform repeated and boring tasks for longer periods compared to workers while not needing expensive healthcare insurances and didnââ¬â¢t get sick (Henderson, 2006). This improved many aspects of manufacturing process such as improvement of product quality, avoidance of hazardous accidents by the more precise directions i n dangerous tasks and increased productivity while keeping manufacturing costs low. On the other hand, while small companies were benefited from opening new trade perspectives such as selling specialized equipment, most small businesses that could not afford the new technology were led to foreclosure. In workers, while it was originally feared that jobs could be destroyed by replacing human labour with machines, it was later proved that this had a strongly positive impact on improving the working conditions because robots replaced jobs that were dangerous or toxic to humans. An example of this is the robot ANATROLLER ARI-100 which was developed to clean toxic environments. The requirement of maintenance and supervision for the machines opened up new opportunities for work which had a better working life and benefits for workers. The only negative social impact is the replacement of uneducated workers or workers with limited skills, as they could only perform repeated tasks, which st ill exists until today. Medical involvement When robots were introduced to the medical sector, the first robot-assisted surgery was facilitated in 1985, with PUMA 520 performing a neurological biopsy. As doctors learned to operate the machines better, major operations were made possible by only a few incisions by the robots. Similarities And Differences Of Characters In The Sound And The Fury :: Sound Fury Characters
The Sound and the Fury is a compelling story that shows different aspects of a family that is slowly deteriorating. William Faulkner made it clear that one of the most important aspects of this novel is the theme of loss. Faulkner gave the views of four different individuals who all had one main obsession, their sister Caddy, who in a way symbolizes the loss that each person endures and the deterioration of the south. Caddy, who did not have a part in the novel to tell her side of the story, was viewed very differently by each of her brothers. This novel tells a story of the Compson family on their way of distinction. The story begin with Benjamin who is mentally challenge tells the first section of the story; this is one of the most difficult chapters of the book that is very difficult to comprehend for the simple fact that Benjamin has no motion of time. Therefore he constantly goes back in forth with the present and past. In order to fully understand the chapter, you must slowly comprehend when he is speaking of the past and when he is speaking in the present. All his memories have to do with Caddy. She was the one who gave him order. His life was based around Caddy because she was the mother figure in his life. She was the one that gave Benjamin the love he needed. There was a point in the novel were Luster was taking Benjamin and he started to cry hysterically because Luster took him on an unfamiliar route; Jason found out he hit Luster and told him to never do that again or heââ¬â¢ll kill him because Benjamin lost the order he lived with. Without the familiarity of his surroundings th ere would not be any meaning to his life. The only thing he has left in his life is the memories he had with his sister. When Caddy ran away Benjamin lost the order in his life and the loved he needed. The second chapter was told by Quentin, which was much easier to comprehend than the first chapter and he tells his perspective of events that happened in his past that he hasnââ¬â¢t quite gotten over. Quentin had a close bond with his sister Caddy. Quentin cares about the old southern code of honor.

Having an attendance policy is for the benefit of all students. Walking into the class room late is very rude. Would your boss accept you being late? Those policies are there for a reason, to expect the responsibility of being an adult. 2.My instructor should change her attendance policy because it is bad. This statement is too weak to continue. 5.Some children show violent behavior. The word children have a lot of history to go by. You can do a lot of research on this and you would not find any results in the behavior of childrenââ¬â¢s. 6.Violence is a problem in our society. We will always have the protection from our government, and families. But then thatââ¬â¢s not enough. There will always be someone out there to hurt someone. This statement can go on forever and will never get to the end. 7.Conflict-resolution courses should be taught to help prevent violence in Americaââ¬â¢s schools. There will always be education and precaution to protect our childrenââ¬â¢s in schools. Violence is so close to home now, that if you walk down the street and look at someone youââ¬â¢ll get hurt for just looking. 8.Social networking sites such as Facebook can cause problems. I donââ¬â¢t know that much about Facebook, and I hear a lot of stories about this network being use by a lot young kids. I can see the problems that can happen when things get posted. 9.F acebook attracts many college students. This statement shows weakness, itââ¬â¢s not going in any kind of direction. Example, we all know that many high school and college students use Facebook. 10.College students should be careful of what material they put on their Facebook pages because prospective employers routinely check them. There is that possibility of employers checking the networks, because that is there job to protect any viruses that could infect their programs. Those programs are valuable to their work. This is a very strong thesis statement and has no sign of weakness.
